You can add more than one client to a case, only when it has been selected as a Joint Individual during setup. If you selected an Individual, you cannot later add another individual to the Case.
Using the right client type
When creating a case, ensure you select the Joint Individuals Client Type. From here, you need to add a 'group name' for the Joint Individuals. We recommend something such as, Mr and Mrs Smith. Or, Jordan Baker and Melissa Francis. You can use the leading applicants email and phone number if you have it.
On the next screen, you then add a new client for each of the individuals in the group. One for Jordan Baker and one for Melissa Francis.
When completing the risk assessment, you complete one of them in consideration of the Joint Individuals that you are dealing with. A single risk assessment is sufficient, you do not need to complete one risk assessment per joint individual, just a single risk assessment for the group.
Adding a second client to an existing case
If you have setup the Client Type as Joint Individual:
Open the case from your Cases (Matters or Listings) list.
Scroll to the Clients section within the case.
Click Add client.
Search for an existing client record or click Create new client to add someone new.
Once linked, the second client appears alongside the first. Each client requires their own identity verification.
Adding a vendor you missed when creating the case
If you created a listing with only one vendor and need to add a second, the Add client button will not be available. In this case, you may need to go to the Case and change the progress in the top right to Cancelled, and start again.
What if joint clients share a mobile number?
Each client needs their own verification link sent separately. If two clients share a mobile number, you can send both verification requests to that same number.
Can I change a joint client record to an individual?
No, you cannot convert a joint client record to an individual record. If a client was added in error, create a new individual client profile and link it to the case. You can remove the incorrect client by clicking the three-dot menu next to their name in the Clients section. Conversely, you cannot change an Individual, into a Joint Individual.
