How to fix the wrong client type or vendor on a case

How to correct an individual/joint mistake or the wrong vendor on a case by cancelling and recreating.

If you chose the wrong client type (individual instead of joint, or the other way around) or added the wrong vendor, you can't switch it on an existing case — you cancel the case and recreate it with the correct setup. The one exception is a joint or multi-vendor listing, where you can manage the individual parties.

If you picked the wrong client type (individual vs joint)

Workflow doesn't let you change a case between individual and joint once it has been created, so the fix is to recreate it:

  1. Open the case that has the wrong client type via the 'cases/listings/matters' tab.

  2. Change the progress status in the top right to Cancelled. [Verify: exact label and location]

  3. Create a new case via the home page and choose the correct client type — select Joint when you need to verify more than one person, such as joint vendors or co-buyers. [Verify: exact client-type field labels]

  4. Add the correct clients (sellers, buyers, or vendors) to the new case.

If you added the wrong vendor or seller

For a joint or multi-vendor listing, you can manage the individual parties from the three-dot menu (⋯) next to the client in the Clients section. [Verify: confirm this menu and what options it offers — e.g. remove/replace a party]

For a single-vendor listing, the three-dot menu isn't available, so cancel the listing (progress → Cancelled) and recreate it with the correct vendor. [Verify]

Will I be charged if I cancel and recreate?

You're charged at the point you create a client. If you cancel a listing before the client is created, you won't be charged. If the client was already created, that check has been used.
