Changes to APLYiD Workflow results for Australian IDs from 16 November 2026

This guide is for APLYiD Workflow (workflow.aplyid.com).

From 16 November 2026, results for checks on Australian ID documents give APLYiD’s opinion on your client’s identity. They no longer give a definitive result or say that a specific ID was verified. Where we used to show “Pass” as the overall result, you’ll now see a green tick, and the AML result reads “High confidence”.

The checks we run haven’t changed, and your clients won’t notice any difference. The change comes from new Document Verification Service (DVS) requirements that apply to every organisation that uses the DVS. Results for New Zealand and United Kingdom ID documents aren’t changing.

Who this affects

This change applies to every verification on an Australian driver licence or passport, including in-person verifications. It depends on the ID your client uses, not on where your account is.

Verifications completed before 16 November keep their original wording. New Zealand and UK ID documents aren’t affected.

Why this is happening

The Attorney-General’s Department runs the DVS, and it has updated its requirements for how DVS results can be shown. These requirements apply to every organisation that uses the DVS, not just APLYiD.

Under the new rules, results can no longer say whether a specific ID document was verified against DVS data. Instead, they must give an overall opinion on the person’s identity.

What isn’t changing

  • The Biometric row on the Overview tab still reads Pass.

  • The PEP row and PEP tab, including the downloadable PEP report.

  • On the AML tab, full name, date of birth and address still show Passed.

  • Review and Fail results look the same as before.

  • The Notes card, the Biometric tab, and Cases, Monitoring, Templates and Reports.

The checks we run are the same. We still check Australian identity documents through the DVS, and that check still counts towards the overall result. The overall result is also based on:

  • document tampering checks

  • biometric face match and liveness

  • independent data sources

  • PEP, sanctions and adverse media screening

Our opinion is always based on several checks together, never on the DVS check alone.

Your pricing and your clients’ experience stay the same.

What you may need to do

  • Day to day: nothing. Your APLYiD Workflow screens update automatically.

  • Compliance procedures and staff training: if your AML/CTF program or internal guidance tells staff to look for “Pass” on an Australian verification, update it to the green tick and “High confidence”.

  • Exports and stored results: if you export verification results, or another system you use reads them, check that nothing depends on the word “Pass”.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the green tick or “High confidence” mean the same as Pass?
It’s APLYiD’s opinion that your client is likely to be who they say they are, based on several checks together. It isn’t a guarantee. You decide whether to accept the verification under your own AML/CTF program, as you do today.

Why doesn’t the overall result show “Pass” any more?

Under the DVS rules, results can’t show whether your client’s details matched the government record, or anything that suggests it. They can only give an opinion on whether the person is who they say they are.

Can Support tell me whether the Australian ID matched the government record?
No. The Identity Verification Services Act 2023 treats DVS results as personal information. We can’t share them with anyone outside APLYiD, including you, our Support team and your auditors. We can explain how the opinion is reached and send you a sample.

Does this mean the Australian ID wasn’t checked?
No. We still check Australian ID documents through the DVS, and that check still counts towards our opinion. Workflow just can’t show its result.

Why don’t the driving licence and passport appear in the data sources table any more?
Showing them would reveal the DVS result, which the rules don’t allow. We still check the ID through the DVS, and that check still counts towards our opinion.

Do Review and Fail results change?
No. Review and Fail results look the same as before.

Will verifications completed before 16 November change?
No. They keep their original wording.

Are New Zealand or UK IDs affected?
No. Results for New Zealand and UK ID documents aren’t changing.

Has my pricing changed?
No. Your pricing stays the same.

Will my clients notice anything different?
No. Your clients complete their verification the same way as before.

Can I see an example of the new screens?
Yes. Contact us and we’ll walk you through it, or set up a quick call with your compliance team.
